FAQ

Hionz is a software development company focused on building high-performance software, we specialise in a range of technologies, from low level system designs, to high level programs, right now hionz focus is on desktop development systems with our leading product being shades.

Hionz target market is vast, with each product having a unique target, but the general target market hionz operates with is, consumers and developers.

Hionz is built on the principles of technical expertise and craftsmanship, we pride ourselves in our work and are committed to creating software that is both powerful and thoughtfully designed.

Our goal is to build products that are functional, freeing and intuitive serving both newcomers and experienced developers alike.

that same due diligence extends to our consumer software. At Hionz, we focus on creating tools that make everyday life just that little bit simpler, more efficient and most of all, more enjoyable.

Hionz is based in Sydney, NSW, Australia.

Shades is Hionz's first product, a desktop runtime designed to assist with composing UI elements and accelerating desktop application development.

Shades is intentionally minimal. It focuses purely on UI composition and does not handle networking, audio or other low-level miscellaneous functionality. We believe in the separation of concerns and in giving developers the freedom to choose the tools that best suit their needs.

In the future, Hionz may introduce additional tools designed to complement Shades and support broader development workflows.

Shades is actively developed and continuously evolving. It serves as a foundation component in Hionz applications, meaning it is tested and refined in real-world production environments. We are committed to its long-term stability and growth.

No Shades is currently closed source.
The core framework is free to use. Development is transparent through public dev logs and roadmaps updates.

Shades follows semantic versioning using major, minor, and patch released. (versions may also include names for major versions)

There is no guarantee of compatibility between major versions. A major version represents a fundamental revision, a point where core systems may be rethought, redesigned, or rebuilt entirely.

Minor versions extend the current major version. Features may become deprecated in minor releases, but they will remain functional. Deprecation signals that a feature is no longer recommended and may be removed in a future major version. Minor releases focus on expanding capability without redefining the system.

Patches are small revisions to minor versions. These typically include security updates, performance improvements, bug fixes, or internal implementation changes that do not alter functionality.

When a new major version is released, the previous major version is not retired immediately. Both versions may be maintained in parallel until the new major version reaches comparable maturity and stability. Once that milestone is achieved, the previous major version will be retired and transitioned to a Long-Term Support (LTS) release for ongoing security updates.

Yes Hionz will have other products, shades is just our starting point, but we plan on creating an ecosystem of tools for developers, and a multitude of tools, apps and programs for consumers.
